During the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education’s (AASHE’s) Annual Conference hosted October 2–4 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, nearly 2,000 participants will gather to examine policies, research and transformative actions that advance sustainability in higher education.

How University Transportation Practitioners are Transforming USGBC's Global Transportation Emphasis

Speakers inclue:
- Brian Shaw, Executive Director of Parking and Transportation Services, Stanford University: Shaw is a specialist in the area of sustainable transportation. He has created new programs at Stanford, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Chicago and Emory that fostered carpooling, biking, walking and riding public transit to campus. Under his leadership, Stanford now keeps its peak hour trips under a cap established in 2000, while the campus continues to grow and thrive.
- Edward Adelman, Executive Director, Massachusetts State College Building Authority (MSCBA): Adelman directs the financing, planning, design, construction and management of institutional facilities for MSCBA. Over the past 12 years, the Authority has developed 15 projects that have been certified by USGBC or GBCI.
- J.C. Porter, Assistant Director Commuter Service, Arizona State University: Porter serves as Assistant Director for Commuter Services, which includes oversight of the bicycle program, alternate transportation options, the walk-only zones, permit sales and appeals.
- Paul Wessel, Market Development Director, Parksmart: As the Market Development Director of Parksmart, the world’s only rating system designed to measure high-performance parking garages, Wessel is responsible for the global rollout.
- Reed Huegerich, Assistant Director of Transportation, Cornell University: A practicing planner for the past 10 years, Huegerich specializes in sustainable transportation and livable communities. His work at Cornell focuses largely on shifting campus travel to more sustainable modes.
