Located adjacent to PNC Park, home of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Heinz Field, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers, you’ll find Gold 1 Parking Facility—the first Parksmart Gold certification ever, as well as the first garage in Pittsburgh, and in Pennsylvania, to certify through Parksmart.

Parksmart provides a framework to create parking garages that encourage more sustainable mobility and support the development of high-performing buildings, cities and communities. Through certification, Parksmart structures like Gold 1 are designed to improve access to spaces and better serve customers and the environment.

Owned and operated by the Stadium Authority of the City of Pittsburgh, a municipal authority charged with managing and maintaining the city as a premier tourist destination, Gold 1 Parking Facility is a new construction, Parksmart-certified project that sits on 5.6 acres of land. With the ability to accommodate up to 1,000 vehicles, the parking facility was designed to not only showcase the city of Pittsburgh’s sustainability goals, but also to provide a convenient point of access to the popular area filled with retail, entertainment and office buildings, for daily, weekend and event patrons.

Equipped with two electric vehicle charging stations, secure covered parking for up to 100 bicycles (including a tire repair and inflation station) and bioswales to reduce rainwater runoff, Gold 1 Garage is designed to advance sustainable mobility through its smart design and operation.
